Bijnor

Bulandshahr

The history of Bulandshahr begins even before 1200 B.C. This region is nearer to the capital of Pandavas – Indraprasth and Hastinapur. After of decline of Hastinapur, Ahar which is situated in the north east of district Bulandshahr became an important place for Pandavas. With passes of time the king Parma made a fort on this part of region and a king named Ahibaran laid the foundation of a tower called Baran (Bulandshahr).

Farrukhabad

Farrukhabad was founded by Nawab Mohammad Khan Bangash, who named it after the reigning emperor Farrukhsiyar, in 1714, the district of Farrukhabad forms part of Kanpur division.

Kannauj

Kannauj district, a part of Kanpur division is a district of Uttar Pradesh with its administrative headquarters located at Kannauj city. Kannauj district is named after its city Kannauj.

Kanpur Nagar

Kanpur district is one of the most important districts of the state of Uttar Pradesh. It was divided into two districts i.e., Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat in the year 1977. Kanpur is globally known for Leather & Leather goods manufacturing. Kanpur leather industry is famous for processing of buffalo hides; 99% of the total export of Saddlery and harness from the country is from Kanpur only.

Unnao

Unnao is situated between river Ganga and Sai, and geographical area of the district is 4558 Sq. Km. The total population of the district as per 2011 census is 31.08 lakhs out of which 16.30 lakhs are male and 14.78 Lakhs are females.

Raebareli

Raja Har Parshad "Taluqedar of Naseerabad" a Kayastha, native of this town, was the Nazim or Commissioner of Khairabad Division during the reign of the ex-king. He joined the mutineers and went up to Nepal with Begum Hazrat Mahal of Oudh dynasty and on 31 December 1858 while returning after ensuring her safety, he was killed in a battle with British army. He has been honoured with the title of "Lastville and the most notorious governor of Oudh".

Pratapgarh

Pratapgarh is named after its headquartering town Belha Pratapgarh, commonly known as Pratapgarh. Raja PratapBahadur Singh (1628–1682), a local king, located his capital at Rampur near the old town of Aror. There he built a garh (fort) and called it Pratapgarh after himself.

Kaushambi

Kaushambi district is one of the districts on the southern part of the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Prayagraj

Allahabad officially known as Prayagraj, also known as Ilahabad, is a metropolis in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Prayagraj is one of the oldest cities in India.

Mirzapur

Ghazipur is a district of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. The district is part of Varanasi Division. Moradabad

Moradabad is a city in Uttar Pradesh state of India. It was established in 1600 by Murad, the son of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan as a result the city came to known as Moradabad. It is the administrative headquarters of Moradabad District.

Rampur

Rampur was founded by Nawab Ali Muhammad Khan, the adopted son of Sardar Daud Khan, the chief of the Rohillas in Northern India.

Bareilly

Bareilly is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, located near Ramganga. It is a commissionerate district and falls under geographical region Rohilkhand. The city is 252 kilometres (157 mi) north of the state capital, Lucknow, and 250 kilometres (155 mi) east of the national capital, New Delhi.

Meerut

Meerut is an ancient city with prestigious mark in the Indian history. In 1857, the first revolt for the freedom of India was started from this city by Mangal Pandey, a well-known freedom fighter. In ancient India, Hastinapur known for the capital of Kauravs & Pandavas and Parichitgarh, the capital of King Parichit were both found in Meerut. The name of the city may have derived from Sanskrit word 'Mayarashtra' (Sanskrit: ), the capital of the kingdom of Mayasura, Mandodari's father and Ravana's

Aligarh

The Jat ruler Surajmal in 1753, with patronage from Jai Singh of Jaipur and the Muslim army occupied the fort of Koil, the Bargujar Raja Bahadur Singh continued the battle from another fort under them and died fighting in what is known as the “Battle of Ghasera”.

Fatehpur

Fatehpur has a prominent place in history, starting from the Vedic period. The Chinese traveler Hwensaung is believed to pass Asani, a place of historical importance with fort built of Gupta age.

Gautam Buddh Nagar(Noida)

Gautam Buddh Nagar (GBN) district is a suburban district of Uttar Pradesh, situated in northern India. Greater Noida is the district headquarter and is also part of the National Capital Region. It is India’s first ISO 16001 certified city.

Sambhal

Sambhal is a city in Uttar Pradesh state of India. Sambhal district headquarter is Bahjoi town. It was created on 28 September 2011 as one of three new districts in the state. It was formerly named "Bhimnagar".

Kanpur Dehat

Kanpur Dehat is surrounded by districts Kanpur Nagar, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auraiya and Kannauj. River Yamuna divides Kanpur Dehat and Jalaun. The district name has been changed to Kanpur Dehat on 30/07/2012. Earlier Kanpur Dehat district was renamed as Ramabai Nagar on 1-7-2010. Initially this district was with Kanpur and then divided and got the name as Kanpur Dehat in year 1977. It has very large stretch of industrial belt starting from Rania to Jainpur.

Auraiya

On 17th September,1997 two tehsils named Auraiya and Bidhuna were seperated from district Etawah to form the new district named as Auraiya.

Jhansi

Jhansi is one of the beautiful cities in Uttar Pradesh. The city is synonymous with the name of Rani Jhansi. The history of Jhansi attracts tourists from all over the world.

Jalaun

District Jalaun is one of the important districts of Jhansi Mandal which comes under Bundelkhand Region Jalaun district comes under the Jhansi Division.

Lalitpur

The Lalitpur District is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh state of India. Lalitpur district is a part of Jhansi Division. Lalitpur is the main town and administrative headquarters. Lalitpur finally carved out as a district in the year 1974 which is not only the heartland but also heart-shaped district of Bundelkhand Region.

Kasganj

The district Kasganj (Former Name as Kanshi Ram Nagar) was formed on 17th Apr 2008 by carving out Kasganj, Patiali and Sahawar Tehsils from Etah district.Kasganj is the 71th district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The district and particularly the city Kasganj are popularly known as because it was established in a thick forest of “kans”.

Banda

Banda is one of the districts in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh of great historic importance. It is famous for its Shazar stone which is used for making jewellery.

Hamirpur

Hamirpur belongs to the Chitrakoot division of the state. It is located in between Kanpur and Chitrakoot, two of the most renowned places in the history. The district is believed to be connected to the Chitrakoot forest where Ram, Sita and Laxman lived/ travelled during their exile

Chitrakoot

Chitrakoot is famous for its mythological importance from the time of Ramayana. It is associated with historic Ramayana epic as this was the place where Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshman spent their 11 years of exile. It is known both for its scenic beauty and spiritual altitude. It is an important pilgrimage and tourist hub.

Mahoba

Mahoba falls in the Bundelkhand division of UP. The district was carved out from the erstwhile Hamirpur district on 11 February 1995. The district has been known for its bravery; the story of Veer ALHA and UDAL defines its importance in Indian history. Moreover, it is also known for its closeness to historic places Khajuraho, Laundi, Kulpahar, Charkhari, Kalinjar, Orchha, and Jhansi.

Sonbhadra

Sonbhadra,is the second largest district of Uttar Pradesh, India with district headquarters in the town of Robertsganj .

Bhadohi

Bhadohi, is home to the largest hand-knotted carpet weaving industry hub in South Asia. The carpets here are known for their unmatched style and elegance.

Jaunpur

Jaunpur district is in Varanasi Division of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The district headquarters is Jaunpur which is situated on the banks of the Gomti River. It is located 228 km southeast of the state capital Lucknow

Chandauli

Chandauli is a traditional craft pocket of Zari -Zardozi embroidery. The district Chandauli became a separate district in the year 1997 and is part of Varanasi division. It is located in the Eastern and Southern side of holy river Ganga and is named after its tahsil headquarters name. The district borders Varanasi district to the West along with Mirzapur, Ghazipur district to the North, Sonebhadra district to the South, and Bihar State to the East, Karmansa river is the dividing line from Bihar

Bagpat

Baghpat is a town of NCR and a Municipal board in Baghpat district in western Uttar Pradesh, India. Prior to the establishment of Baghpat district in 1997, Baghpat was a Tehsil in Meerut district. Baghpat town is located on the banks of river Yamuna. It was originally known as ‘Vyagprastha’ - Land of Tigers. Later, it was changed to Baghpat.

Saharanpur

Saharanpur district is the north most district of Uttar Pradesh, bordering the state of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand .Saharanpur district, formed at the most northerly position of the Doab land, stretches between the holy rivers of the Ganges and the Yamuna.

Shamli

The district ‘Shamli’ is newly carved out from Muzaffarnagar under Saharanpur division. It was known as Prabuddhnagar when this district came into focus. It is situated on Delhi-Shamli national highway, which is 100 km from Delhi, 65 km from Saharanpur, 38 km from Muzaffarnagar and 38 km from Panipat (Haryana).

Agra

Agra is situated in the western region of Uttar Pradesh, Agra is popularly known as the “City of Taj” because of the marvellous Taj Mahal which is one of the many wonders of the world.

Mathura

Mathura district is also known as Brij Bhoomi and it belongs to the Agra division of UP. The district since time immemorial has been a sacred land for the Hindus as it is believed that Lord Krishna was born on the site of Sri Krishna Janma Bhoomi, a Hindu temple.

Etah

The district Etah is situated in the western part of Uttar Pradesh with its headquarters in Etah city. It is a part of Aligarh division and shares its borders with the Etah district in the north, Farrukhabad district in the east, Mainpuri and Firozabad districts in the south, Agra district in the south-west and Hathras district in the north- west.

Hathras

District Mahamaya Nagar (Previous name Hathras) was created vide Govt. notification No CM – 70/1-5/97-85/97-R5 dated 6.5.1997. The district is carved out from the district Aligarh and Mathura by excluding or including tahsils Hathras and Sikandra Rao and 134 villages and two towns from the district Mathura.

Firozabad

The city of Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh is an ancient one and you must have heard of it being referred to as the “Glass City of India” or “The Bangle City”.

Mainpuri

Mainpuri is a district in the Agra division of Uttar Pradesh. The district with a population of 18,68,529 constituting to only around 1% of the total population of the state making it rank 50th within the state. The GSDP of the district is INR 7906.22 Crores

Etawah

Etawah is situated on the banks of Yamuna River in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is the administrative headquarters of Etawah District. The city was an important centre for the Revolt of 1857 (Allan Octavian Hume, the founder of Indian National Congress was district collector then). It is also the place of sangam or confluence between Yamuna and Chambal.

Budaun

Badaun district is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh, India, and Badaun town is the district headquarters. The district is a part of Bareilly division covers an area of 5168 km².

Lucknow

Lucknow Demo is the capital city of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and the second largest city after Kanpur in UP. Lucknow is also the administrative headquarter of the eponymous district and division. Lucknow has always been a multicultural city that flourished as a North Indian cultural and artistic hub and was the seat of power of Nawabs in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Barabanki

Barabanki is also known as ‘Entrance of Purvanchal’ which has privilege of being the penance ground to numerous saints and ascetics. Barabanki is one of the major textile cluster of Uttar Pradesh with majority of artisans involved in handloom sector. The people in Barabanki are traditionally Handloom workers and this skill has been passed down to generations.

Lakhimpur Kheri

Lakhimpur Kheri district is situated about 134 km to the north of Lucknow and is the largest district in Uttar Pradesh, India, with a total area of 7,680 square kilometres on the border with Nepal. Lakhimpur Kheri district is a part of Lucknow division.

Sitapur

Sitapur is a town in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It was established by the king Vikarmaditya after the name of Lord Ram’s wife Sita.

Hardoi

According to general conventions Hardoi District is related with “HIRNAKASHYAP” its present name Hardoi is a distorted version of its earlier name “HARIDROHI”. In view of some people this district was colonized by Hardevbaksh and jsut because of this reason there is an old locality Hardevganj exists in the city.

Sultanpur

Sultanpur is a city in Uttar Pradesh located on the banks of the River Gomati. It is said to have been founded by Kush, son of Rama, and to have been named after him Kusapura or Kusabhavanpur. This ancient city has been identified by General Cunnigham as Sultanpur mentioned by Hiuen tsang, the Chinese traveller.

Amethi

Amethi is the name of a district in Ayodhya division of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Gauriganj town is the headquarters of the Amethi district.

Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur has a rich cultural and historical importance not only in the state of Uttar Pradesh but in India also. It is the birth place of Firaq Gorakhpuri, workplace of writer Sh. Munshi Premchand and mystic poet Kabirdas.

Deoria

The present district Deoria is situated in eastern zone of Uttar Pradesh. According to official gazzettes, the district name ‘Deoria’ is taken by its headquarter name ‘Deoria’ and the term ‘DEORIA’ generally means a place where there are temples.

Maharajganj

This district was carved out from Gorakhpur district on 2 October 1989.The town of Maharajganj is the district headquarters. This district is part of Gorakhpur Division. According to the 2011 census Maharajganj district has a population of 2,685000 which is roughly equal to the nation of Kuwait or the US state of Nevada.

Kushinagar

The district has got the international fame due to Mahaparinirvan place of Lord Buddha. The kushinagar is a part of Buddhist circuit. The district was originated by carving district Deoria on 13th May 1994. Being an ancient historical place lot of tourists from all over the world visit the district for their religious development. The main attraction of Kushinagar is the MAIN STUPA (a circular civil structure made on the ashes of crimination of LORD BUDDHA), a 6.10 metre statue of Lord Buddha

Ayodhya

Ayodhya is an ancient and holy city in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. The city, also known as Saket by the local people, is the birthplace of Hindu God Shri Ram. Therefore, Ayodhya is among the principal religious centers of India.

Bahraich

Bahraich is a district in the Devipatan division of Uttar Pradesh. The district with a population of 3,487,731 constituting to only around 1.74% of the total population of the state. The GSDP of the district is INR 10749.37 Crores

Gonda

Gonda district is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh, India. The city of Gonda is the district headquarter and also the administrative centre for the Devipatan Division. It has 2 lok sabha seats and 7 assembly areas. It has 4 tehsils namely gonda, mankapur, coloneganj and tarabganj. It has 16 blocks.

Ambedkar Nagar

Ambedkar Nagar district is located in Ayodhya (Faizabad) Division in eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. The district is widespread with an area of over 2,350 sq. km. Akbarpur City is the administrative headquarter of the district and is situated on the bank of holy river Tamsa. The Tanda Tehsil of Ambedkar Nagar district is well known for ‘Tanda Terrycot’. Tanda and Jalalpur are the main weaving centres of Ambedkar Nagar.

Shravasti

According to Buddhist traditions, the city was called Savatthi because the sage Savattha lived there. Not just this, but there are various other historical references found related to the city.

Azamgarh

Azamgarh is situated on the bank of Tamsa River in the eastern region of Uttar Pradesh. Azamgarh, one of the easternmost districts of the State.

Ballia

Ballia is a district in Uttar Pradesh, with its district headquarters located at Ballia town. Ballia district is a part of Azamgarh division situated in the East of Uttar Pradesh.

Mau

Mau, now known as MaunathBhanjan, is an industrial town and the headquarter of the Mau district. It is located in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, India. The town is known for its saree industry which is a traditional business and centuries-old art.The district was known as “‘Manchester of Handlooms” in the past.

Basti

The city of Basti is situated in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, in between Ghaghara and Amy river, about 180 Kms east of Lucknow. It’s a part of the Basti division.

Siddharth Nagar

Siddharthnagar district was created on December 29, 1988. The district was named after Sidhhartha (Gautam Buddha), who spent his early years in the kingdom of Kapilavastu which is now part of the district. The district is one of the 75 districts of UP and belongs to the Basti division in the Purvanchal region of the state... Naugarh town is the district headquarters.

Balrampur

Balrampur district is named after the erst while princely estate and its capital, Balrampur. It is believed that the name of this estate was derived from its founder Balram Das who founded it in the 16th century.

Sant Kabir Nagar

Sant Kabir Nagar district is one of the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India with Khalilabad City is the district’s headquarters.

JP Nagar

District Amroha lies in the west of Moradabad district and adjoining districts are Hapur, Sambhal & Bulandshahr, Bijnor. Prior to Amroha this district is known as Jyotiba Phule Nagar

Shahjahanpur

Shahjahanpur City is established by Shri Diler Khan and Shri Bahadur Khan sons of Shri Dariya Khan who was soldier in the army of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. Both, Shri Diler Khan, and Shri Bahadur Khan were dignitaries in the regime of Shahjahan. After being pleased with the services of Shri Diler Khan; Shahjahan gifted 14 villages with the permission to construct a Fort. Diler khan developed a fort in “Nainar Khera Village” which was situated on the rivers Garrah and Khannaut.

Pilibhit

The district of Pilibhit also known as the old Hafizabadis the north-eastern most district of Rohilkhand division which is situated in the sub Himalayan belt on the boundary of Nepal covering 3,504 sq. km. On the northare the districts of Udhamsingh Nagar and the territory of Nepal, on the south lies the Shahjahanpur district, on the east the district is flanked for a short distance by district Kheri and for the remaining distance by the Shahjahanpur district and on the west the district of Bare
